Arknights Endfield: Getting to Know the Operators

Arknights Endfield

The Arknights franchise expands its universe with Arknights Endfield, a highly anticipated spin-off set onTalos-II, the second moon of the planet Talos. This new game takes place hundreds of years after the events of the original Arknights, which was set on Terra. While many aspects of Endfield’s lore may change as it is still in beta testing, some operators already have rich backstories connected to the original game, creating an exciting bridge between the two timelines.

For now, we explore three standout operators in Endfield: Laevatain, Gilberta, and Snowshine, who each bring unique talents and compelling stories to the frozen frontier of Talos-II.

Laevatain (Previously Surtr in Arknights)

Laevatain

Laevatain, a Rhodes Island operator, now serves as a specialist under Endfield Industries as part of a collaborative agreement between the two organizations. Known for her remarkable adaptability, she excels in both independent operations and teamwork. While her "fiery girl" reputation precedes her, those who work with her note her calm and collected demeanor, as well as her skill as a listener and coordinator.

Interestingly, Laevatain frequently references "the threat of demons," leaving many colleagues perplexed. Fans of Arknights will recognize her as Surtr, a mysterious Sarkaz operator with a dark history. Surtr harbored a fragment of the Feranmut, a powerful being that once waged war against the ancient Sami civilization. Despite the Feranmut's immense influence, Surtr resisted its control, showcasing her unmatched strength.

Surtr

Surtr’s pyrokinetic powers, independent of Originium, and her suppression of Oripathy set her apart from other operators. Though her memories remain fragmented, her resilience and determination made her one of Rhodes Island’s most capable frontline fighters.

In Endfield, Laevatain’s fondness for freezing environments—and her unexpected love for ice cream—adds a lighthearted touch to her complex character.

Gilberta (Previously Angelina in Arknights)

Gilberta

Gilberta, known as Angelina in the original game, returns in Endfield as a messenger operator specializing in mail delivery and intel escort across Talos-II’s rugged terrain. Her mastery of Originium Arts hints at a rare ability to manipulate gravity, though she humbly refers to it as a mere guess.

Gilberta exudes optimism, tempered by occasional anxiety and an eagerness to prove herself. These traits make her a refreshing presence in the often dangerous environments of the Civilization Band. However, recent revelations from the technical test of Endfield reveal that Gilberta is a biological clone of Angelina, explaining her similar abilities and personality traits. This connection bridges the timeline gap between the two games, adding a fascinating twist to her story.

Angelina

In Arknights, Angelina was a Siracusan Vulpo who contracted Oripathy after a car accident. She later joined Rhodes Island as a messenger and tactical support unit, mastering her anti-gravity Originium Arts. With a mother from Higashi and a father from Siracusa, Angelina’s multicultural background and cheerful personality made her a fan favorite. Her close friendship with Croissant (a fellow operator) and subtle affection for the Doctor (the player) added layers of depth to her character.

As Gilberta, this clone retains Angelina’s core traits but evolves into a unique figure shaped by the challenges of Talos-II.

Snowshine (Previously Aurora in Arknights)

Snowshine

Snowshine serves as a search and rescue (SAR) specialist for Endfield Industries, focusing on polar and high-altitude missions. The polar regions of Talos-II are perilous, making Snowshine’s expertise invaluable. Despite her grueling schedule, she found time to write the "Polar Survival Guide", a resource now regarded as essential for SAR operations in harsh environments.

Aurora

Snowshine’s past connects her to "Aurora", an operator from Arknights. Aurora was a Kjeragian Ursus who dreamed of adventure beyond her homeland. Sponsored by Karlan Trade, she became an arctic explorer, though a blizzard led to her contracting Oripathy and seeking treatment from Rhodes Island. Her survival skills and resilience made her an invaluable part of Rhodes Island’s operations, including the political conflict known as the Snowcap Incident.

In Endfield, Snowshine’s dedication to protecting others mirrors her past self, while her calm and practical nature makes her a beacon of hope in the frozen wastelands of Talos-II.

Arknights Endfield introduces a new chapter in the series, blending fresh narratives with deep connections to the original game. Operators like Laevatain, Gilberta, and Snowshine demonstrate how the passage of time—and the transition to Talos-II—has shaped familiar characters while introducing compelling new mysteries.

With Endfield still in development, there’s much more to uncover about its operators, lore, and world. Fans of Arknights and newcomers alike can look forward to exploring the uncharted regions of Talos-II and unraveling the secrets of this bold new frontier.
