League of Legends: LeBlanc The Deceiver

Leblanc the deceiver

LeBlanc is a master of deception and illusion, capable of projecting her image across vast distances and appearing in multiple places simultaneously. Her true motives remain a labyrinth of secrets, her schemes stretching across centuries.

Origins and Betrayal

Over a thousand years ago, LeBlanc served as one of the inner-circle mages under Sahn-Uzal (later known as Mordekaiser). She betrayed him by allying with the Noxii tribes and their dark champion, Vladimir, severing Mordekaiser’s ties to the Immortal Bastion. This betrayal enabled the tribes to storm the Bastion and overthrow their oppressor. Together, LeBlanc and Vladimir laid the groundwork for the Black Rose, a secretive cabal that would shape Noxus’ destiny for millennia.

The Black Rose’s Influence

Over centuries, LeBlanc recruited powerful allies, including nobles, sorcerers, and even darker entities. Notable among these was Lady Elise, whom LeBlanc saved from a poisoned fate and transformed into a servant of the Spider King, Vilemaw. Their pact allowed LeBlanc to explore the Shadow Isles and secure powerful artifacts for the Black Rose.

LeBlanc also played pivotal roles in shaping Noxian history, such as orchestrating the resurrection of the fallen hero Sion and manipulating Boram Darkwill into seizing the Noxian throne. Though Darkwill defied her counsel, LeBlanc eventually regained control, only for her plans to be disrupted by Jericho Swain, who overthrew Darkwill and took power using the demon Raum.

Rell and the Roseguard Academy

In 987 AN, LeBlanc identified the prodigious magic of Rell, a young girl with immense potential. She offered Rell’s family an opportunity to send their daughter to the Roseguard Academy, a secret institution training young mages. LeBlanc intended to prepare Rell as a weapon against Mordekaiser, Noxus’ ancient foe. However, Rell rebelled, escaping the academy and leaving behind a legacy of destruction.

Designs Across Media

Leblanc has many rendition across various media, we'll talk about it one by one:

League of Legends Original Design

LeBlanc’s initial appearance features shoulder-length dark purple hair, golden eyes, and pale skin. She wears revealing, ornate robes in purple, black, and gold, with a signature golden three-point crown. Despite her striking look, the design feels overly simplistic and fails to reflect her ancient, scheming nature.

Legends of Runeterra Design

This design improves significantly, giving her an elegant dress and a headdress resembling the Guile symbol of Noxus’ Trifarix Council. This detail subtly links her to Noxus’ hidden power structure, enhancing her mystique.

Arcane Design

In Arcane, LeBlanc appears as a shadowy figure with glowing yellow eyes. This minimalist design heightens her mysterious aura, emphasizing her role as a manipulative enigma.

Welcome to Noxus VGU

This design blends elegance and menace, featuring a sleek, feminine dress with a thigh-high slit. Her staff is adorned with the Black Rose symbol, and her skin is even paler, befitting her moniker, “The Pale Woman.” While the look captures her character well, it could benefit from retaining the headdress from Legends of Runeterra to further enhance her ties to Noxus’ political schemes.
